One of the most famous deserts in the world is the Sahara Desert. It is located in North Africa and covers a vast area of approximately 3.6 million square miles (9.4 million square kilometers), making it the largest hot desert on Earth. The Sahara Desert stretches across several countries, including Algeria, Chad, Egypt, Libya, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Niger, Sudan, and Tunisia.

 

Another famous desert is the Gobi Desert, which is located in East Asia and spans parts of northern and northwestern China, as well as southern Mongolia. It is the largest desert in Asia, covering an area of around 500,000 square miles (1.3 million square kilometers).

 

The Arabian Desert, also known as the Rub’ al Khali or the Empty Quarter, is another notable desert. It is situated in the Arabian Peninsula and covers parts of Saudi Arabia, Oman, the United Arab Emirates, and Yemen. This desert is known for its vast sand dunes and extreme temperatures.

 

Other famous deserts include the Mojave Desert in the United States, the Namib Desert in southwestern Africa, the Atacama Desert in South America, and the Kalahari Desert in southern Africa. Each of these deserts has its own unique features and characteristics that attract visitors from around the world.
